Deep Learning is the term given to Artificial Intelligence that uses Machine Learning comprised of an Artificial Neural Network that contains more than one hidden layer - a deep layer (in reality, almost all Artificial Neural Networks fit this criteria).
Deep Learning is considered high level Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence as it is much more autonomous than other types (data-science derived algorithms for example) of Machine Learning and offers greater variability in terms of the data it can handle.
Typically Deep Learning is used for AI and ML tasks that involve relatively complex data as it aims to model more closely how the human brain works.
